Piccolo_Choose a Headjoint_Standard HJThe Standard headjoint is based on the classic cut found in early French and German piccolos. The tone it produces is very focused and sweet. For players using a small aperture when playing, it will have a stable, clear tone.

Picolo_Choose a Headjoint_Wave HJThe Wave headjoint is carved with a slightly higher front wall (the blowing edge) and lower back wall against which the chin rests. It produces a very rich, clean, projecting tone, with easy control of dynamics.

Piccolo_choose a Headjoint_ Solid Silver HJThe Solid Silver headjoint offers the security of a lip plate, which can afford the occasional piccolo player the ease and comfort to master the piccolo. This embouchure supports a very easy high and low register.

  • Keep the instrument stored in the case and case cover when not in use.
  • Do not leave the piccolo on or near heaters during winter.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to the elements. This is especially true if you live in a cold, dry climate.
  • When assembling or removing the headjoint and body, hold the upper part of the body to avoid bending keys, especially the long G# arm.
  • Swab the instrument regularly, but carefully.
  • To remove moisture from the body, feed two inches of a long, thin strip of absorbent cloth through the slot of the swab stick.
  • Insert the swab in the top (cork end) of the body and push all the way out the bottom.
  • Do not push in and pull back out of the top. The swab stick may get lodged at the small end of the instrument.
  • The headjoint can be swabbed separately by pushing a little of the cloth in ahead of the stick to remove water near the cork assembly.
  • We do not recommend oiling the body of the piccolo because oil is damaging to the pads. Almond oil may be rubbed onto the outside of the headjoint around the embouchure hole where discoloration and drying can occur.
  • Your Resona Piccolo is built to last with proper maintenance. We recommend a clean, oil and adjust (C.O.A) every 24 months to reduce friction and wear of the mechanism.
  • Minor adjustments on your piccolo are covered for one year from the date of shipment. For more information on warranties and maintenance, please visit our warranty page.
